    The Seasons Mosaic
Dating from the 3rd century, the mosaic depicts agricultural activities and rituals grouped around personifications of the four seasons.
Discovered at the archaeological site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal in October 1890, it was acquired by the Louvre Museum in 1892. Housed in the National Archaeology Museum since 1935, it underwent extensive restoration by the mosaic and painted plaster restoration workshop at the Saint-Romain-en-Gal museum in 2022 and 2023.
A group of experts was tasked with studying this floor to provide a new interpretation. This mosaic is being presented for the first time at the site where it was discovered, in a unique exhibition.

    A sensory exhibition
Numerous features accompany your visit, appealing to your senses: touch, smell, hearing, and sight. An immersive and playful space is dedicated to families. A restoration laboratory
presents the work that has been carried out. An animated film brings the main scenes of the mosaic to life.

    An exhibition accessible to all
The museum provides a visitor booklet for people with visual impairments. It contains a selection of relief images accompanied by text in Braille and large print.
Magnifying glasses are available so you can enjoy every detail (available on request at reception).
